Cambodia Story from Angkor wat - 5days / 4nights
Upon arrival, you will be met by our guide and head directly to the Pouk Silk Farm. We learn how local people produce Khmer Silk using traditional methods. Afterwards you check in at your hotel. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we visit the Wat Thmei (Killing Fields) where a unique glass-walled stupa is located, containing the bones of Khmer Rouge victims. We’ll also go to Bakheng hill to witness the sunset, with extraordinary views of the Tonle Sap Lake and Angkor Wat.
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll explore Angkor Thom, the ancient 12th century capital. We’ll see the South Gate and the Bayon Temple, unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces. The Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King will also be visited. Ta Prohm is one of the most popular temples, which is best known for its sprawling, jungle-like and ruined atmosphere. The giant trees rising from stone, gripping the temple with their extensive roots makes for excellent photo ops. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Afterwards we visit a Souvenir Shopping area. We then go to Ta Prohm Temple and discover the imposing Angkor Wat. At night, we’ll enjoy a buffet dinner with Cambodian traditional dancing.
After breakfast, we drive to Tonle Sap where you will learn about life on the lake. Tonle Sap is South East Asia’s largest freshwater lake and we’ll explore it by boat, visiting the Chong Kneah floating village complete with homes, farms and even a hospital! When we return to town we’ll stop at Artisan D’ Angkor, the handicraft center for wood and stone carving. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we transfer 6hrs to Phnom Penh by express A/C coach. Upon arrival you’ll meet our guide and check into the hotel before having dinner at a local restaurant.
After breakfast in the hotel we’ll go see the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, which displays many Buddha statues decorated and made with diamonds, emeralds, gold and silver. We also see Wat Phnom, the mythical birthplace of the capital and the Russian Market, which offers the largest and most varied selection of traditional souvenirs. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we’ll go see Toul Sleng S-21, the Genocide Museum. It’s worthwhile to spend some time here, as the country’s infamous recent past should not be forgotten. Next we will briefly stop to visit the Independent Monument. Dinner and overnight will be in Phenh.
After breakfast, you have free time till you transfer to your next destination. Tour ends.
